Our first week of summer! The Beach and Race Cars

We have had such a fun and busy first week of summer! The pictures in this post are of our trip to Sandy Point Beach with some great friends, and a to a Speedway, where we took the boys to see race cars.

We had great weather at the beach. Nice and sunny, not too hot, and the water was great! The sand was very hot, so we had to wear our flipflops from the water to out stuff, but other than that we had a blast at the beach. All of the boys are little fish! Iceman jumped right in, Goose warmed up to the idea quickly, and though Jester took longer to get in the water without Charlie holding him, when he did he was very brave. Goose discovered that he could do sommersaults from the shore into the water, Iceman discovered he could actually do flips in the water, and Jester discovered the many rocks he could throw into the water. We look forward to heading back to the beach, many times this summer.

Old Dominion Speedway
Our boys, especially Goose, love race cars. Every car on the street that resembles a race car in anyway is pointed out to Charlie and Maverick with great enthusiasm. So we thought the boys would enjoy going to see real race cars. We have a speedway about 45 minutes from us that has open practice before the races begin. On Saturday, we went to watch all the race cars prepare for their races that night. The practice is free and spectators come and go as they please. We sat for 2 hours and watched all kinds of race cars race. The boys loved it! It was hot but so worth it!

For awhile, we were the only ones in the stands, so Jester could roam free and Iceman could sit wherever he wanted.
Goose was so excited! You can see a blue race car coming out from behind his head.
In this picture a handful of cars are getting ready to enter the track for their practice runs. The cars did drive very fast and a few even spun out.
This picture is of when we first arrived and were getting settled. Everyone was very excited to watch the cars. The first cars on the track were very loud. You can see three of them on the track to the left.
